James Cho earned his degrees in Political Science and History from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School. While he has worked on a wide variety of legal matters, the cases closest to his heart remind him why he practices law: because every person deserves someone who fights for them.

One of his most personal cases was representing his own mother after a medical provider overdosed her prescription. When other firms found the case too difficult, James stepped up. He remembers Lincoln’s words about representing oneself, yet he knew that when family needed him, objectivity couldn’t stop him from fighting. Against a major insurance defense firm, he secured justice. Her gratitude—and those frequent calls on the phone she gifted him—mean more to him than the victory itself.
In another case, James helped a father reunite with his child after a lengthy international abduction case. Through years of litigation under The Hague Convention, culminating in a Supreme Court decision abroad, he witnessed the moment a father and his six-year-old daughter embraced after three and a half years apart. It was a reminder that behind every case is a family and a future.
Beyond the courtroom, James coaches Taekwondo with his daughter, works out, and enjoys racing on closed-circuit tracks. For him, success is not just in legal outcomes, but in the example we set for family and community.
